(August 25, 2009) Intuit Inc. has quietly introduced an online-payment product that may be aimed initially at small businesses looking for ways to let other businesses pay them electronically, but could move into consumer payments later on.

Merchants are charged 0.25% of the transaction to offer consumers the opportunity to pay securely by electronic check. Consumers sign up for the service, are validated, and can pay by echeck at any merchant that uses Noca’s Secure Check™ processing system.

Okay maybe I’m exaggerating here but it sounds exciting.

Mark Hendrickson, Techcrunch wrote about a brand new payment system that’s coming from ex-Visa employees attempting to virtually eliminate transaction fees by bypassing the credit card companies altogether with its own online payment service.
